28/2/09 ~ 29/2/09 Sitiawan & Pantai Remis

The 3rd day of CNY, my family and I and some church freinds went to Sitiawan,Perak. During our journey, we passed through a paddy plantation and we are city people, so, we get down of the car and start snapping pictures and chasing cranes hahaha

We went to visit turtles in Pasir Panjang Segari. You might thought only Terenggganu have turtles, I have that opinion too, but, the fact is, there are turtles in Perak. Well, actually it's a turtle conservation area, Pusat Pengurusan Penyu. This is the place where they will dig up the turtle eggs, protect them until they hatch, let some back into the sea and keep some for research. Most of the turtles there were greenback turtles. The place was not dirty, but it is full of houseflies flying everywhere. They said it's because of the chicken farm next to it....

Then, we went to a fisherman village and we were supposed to spend our night there. Some prefer the church because it was cleaner, more comfortable and air conds were available hahahaha... Although the village were not that clean, not very comfortable and only fans were available, we had a great time there learning how to fish. The best thing was I've learnt how to catch fishes using a net and I really caught some! It means I won't starve to death if the economy continues to drop LOL

The next morning, we had a very very cheap breakfast. Can you still find RM0.50 nasi lemak in Klang? It is impossible right. But, it is possible in Pantai Remis. The normal nasi lemak cost merely RM0.50, seafood nasi lemak with fish and prawns cost RM0.90 and kaya glutinous rice cost RM1.30. It's really really cheap!

After our cheap breakfast, we went to a fish wholesale factory. That was the first time I saw so many fishes at a time in my whole life!

These fishes were used to make salted fish...

After our fishy trip, we had our lunch in Andrew's kampung, Changkat Kruing. It is a small kampung where most of the villagers catch prawns to survive. It was a tradition that they sure will have wedding or party during the CNY because only during CNY all the youngsters will come back from working. It was lucky for us to have a birthday party of grandpa, we had our lunch as if we had it in a restaurant with 10 dishes and a dessert. The food were tasty and a lot but the place was full of houseflies again! The houseflies came from their neighbour which was a rubber factory... If you have not been in a rubber factory before, you won't understand the smell of it. It was really very smelly! However, that factory was much more better than the one I visited last year in Melaka. Due to the large amount of flies, we had to eat fast to prevent the flies from landing on our food and cutleries. We managed to kill some flies by hitting them with cloth and the electric racket, and I killed 3 flies usng 100 Plus LOL
