I'm sure everyone wished for a gift in Christmas and every child wishes that Santa Claus can just drop by to deliver him/her a Christmas gift. I have a few questions here, take some time to ponder about.
1. Whose birthday are we celebrating in Christmas?
2. Why do we celebrate Christmas?
3. What is the true gift of Christmas?
Many has forgotten the true meaning of Christmas and put their focuses on Santa Claus, presents, Christmas trees and ornaments, Christmas carols, Christmas feast. But none laid their eye on the main character of Christmas, Jesus Christ.
It is Jesus' birthday that we are celebrating on every 25th of December. But who is Jesus?
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Jesus was born as a human child in this world 2000 years ago just to bear my sins, and your sins. He died on the cross for us, and washed away our sins with his precious blood. Because of Jesus, we have the chance to call God our Abba Father, and Jesus as our brother. Because of Jesus, we have the authority of prayer and have eternal life in God.
John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
Jesus Christ is the reason why we are celebrating Christmas. It is because of the great salvation he gave to us 2000 years ago. He is the reason of our celebration.
Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
As we receive Christmas gifts from our family and friends, gifts that will not last forever, gifts that will corrupt one day, why not accept the gift from God? A gift that will last forever; a gift of blessings and eternity. Jesus Christ is the gift, and he is the one and only true gift of Christmas.
Luke 2:8-14
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over the flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests."
